What Money Goes Where?
Before you donate, I feel that it is extremely important that you learn where your money will go when you give to the Skidaway Island Weather Center. I can assure you that all funding received through donations will be spent for the following purposes and I can pledge that I will oversee the allocation and use of this money for the below reasons. There are three main components: weather station maintenance, hardware renovations, and web hosting. 
The first, station maintenance, will repair the aging components of our weather station. One of the integral parts of our weather station is the station console. This piece of equipment allows for the collection of data (from the Integrated Sensor Suite on the weather station).
The second component that needs replacement is the computer which houses the weather station hardware and which collects, aggregates, and disseminates the weather station data to our web server. This computer must meet certain, stringent certifications in order to work properly with that application software and the heavy bandwidth workload. In order for our website to update frequently and to prevent data upload backlog (thereby reducing the validity of the data on our website), the computer must be upgradeable for future expansion.
The final and most important component of our weather station operations is web hosting. If our weather website was not hosted, the website would not be able to be accessed by visitors twenty-four hours per day and seven days per week. While this is the smallest portion of our budget, it is the most important factor that keeps our weather website updated and on the internet. Web hosting costs are the foundation of our website. Without this key part of funding, all other components would not be needed; therefore, the first costs that will be paid are web hosting.
