Tennis at The Landings Club
Don't tell the golf players of the Landings Club--The Landings Club is actually a tennis club. with the three tennis centers at the Landings Club, Marswood, Oakridge, and Franklin Creek, The Landings Club on Skidaway Island offers some of the most technologically advanced (namely fast-dry courts, hard courts, and one stadium) and centrally located tennis courts in the area, and the most well-trained teaching staff. It is the ultimate place to be if you love to play tennis. The Marshwood center features eight fast-dry courts and two platform tennis courts. Two of those ten courts are lit for night play. The complex has plenty of benches and snake machines--perfect for watching your friends while they enjoy playing tennis. the Oakridge Tennis center has four fast-dry tennis courts, all colocated with the Landings Club's fitness center, which is also undergoing thorough and extensive renovation. The Franklin Creek Tennis Center is the highlight of The Landings Club's tennis facilities with more than twelve tennis courts. An additional four courts are available at Oakridge Fitness Center. All three of the facilities offer private and group lessons taught by USPTA- certified tennis pros. The Landings� tennis program also includes league competitions, social mixers, exhibitions and national tournaments.
The Landings Club has also hosted some type of national United States tennis Association even for the past ten years. The overwhelmingly positive response from players and the USTA officials has resulted, as The Landings Club believes, in these events' being continually hosted at The Landings Club.
Most of The Landings Club tennis members compete in tennis events around the local area. The Landings Club has one of the largest representation of any club in the region for competitions. Members range in age from five to ninety-five--so no matter how old you are, you will be pleased with The Landings Club tennis. More information about The Landings Club tennis can be obtained here.
Franklin Creek Tennis
When you first step foot on the property, you will see only a few tennis courts that are playable. However, there is much more than can be seen. Behind the subtle facade of trees and three tennis courts, there are more than ten additional courts, one of which features a five-hundred seats for tournaments at the Landings.
The Franklin Creek Tennis Center at The Landings Club has won numerous awards since its creation in the late 1980s. In 1994, Tennis Industry Magazine chose Franklin Creek's 500-seat stadium as its "Stadium Court of the Year." Later that same decade, in 1996, the Franklin Creek tennis center won the Georgia Tennis Association's Facility of the year Award. The spectacular amenities add to the facility. They continue to please members and guests alike; the outdoor seating areas around the courts and canopies and gazebos near the clubhouse offer members a reprieve from the beating sun. Closer to each court are benches, shelters, and drinking fountains. The Franklin Creek Tennis Center also includes a clubhouse with a large pro shop and a practice backboard.
Once again in 2004, the Franklin Creek Tennis Center won yet another award--the United States Tennis Association's Southern League Facility of the Year.
