About The Landings Club
The Landings Club is Skidaway Island's premiere country club. It is the only club on Skidaway Island that provides a world-class and leisurely lifestyle while having and maintaining a wide range of amenities for you and your guests. The club has six championship golf courses, four swimming pools (two of which are located at the Oakridge fitness center), and more than thirty tennis courts. The six golf courses are (in order of their opening): Marshwood, Magnolia, Plantation, Palmetto, Oakridge and Deercreek. All of these golf courses provide a unique challenge to members young and old. The Marshwood course serves the beauty-seekers while the thrill-seekers may want to play Palmetto, the club's most difficult course. The courses are maintained with the unmost integrity and are entirely private.
For whatever you are looking--golf, fitness, tennis, pool amenities--The Landings Club offers something just for you. It is a world-class club and outperforms some of the most exclusive clubs in the region. The spectacular views throughout The Landings offers a breath taking sight for club members. "Terry and I love the Island for two primary reasons: Amenities - The total amenity package on The Landings is second to no other community. Some other complexes may brag about a "great championship golf course" or an "unbelievable marina," but The Landings has it all. Six championship golf courses... I just can't imagine how monotonous that would be playing the same course three to four days a week. The variety of our courses is very special and each one offers a great challenge.
Reason #2 that it is so special.... the friends that you meet and socialize with at The Landings. We all come from different backgrounds, different areas of the Country, different ages, but it's just amazing how, in a short period of time, you develop such close friendships..."
The Landings Club has three main members status positions with each having a different variety of benefits. They are in descending order from the most expensive to the least expensive. Each membership level has a fee associated with it to join and each also has a monthly payment that is due. Recently, the Landings Club has seen a decline in overall golf initiations. This could be attributed to the growing cost of initiation that is right now over sixty thousand dollars and monthly fees averaging seven-hundred dollars per month. Still, proponents (namely The Landings Club management) argue that the club has some of the best amenities anywhere in the region, much less in the local area--six championship golf courses, thirty-four tennis courts, four swimming pools, and an exceptionally large fitness center that is currently being renovated.
- I. Golf - Play anytime on anyone of the six championship golf courses at the Landings. You can enjoy the variety of courses and their associated difficulties while using the golf shop and driving range for extra practice.
- II. Tennis - Play tennis on anyone of the Landings' thirty-four tennis courts (currently there are only twenty-nine tennis courts due to renovation) and enjoy lunch or drinks in The Franklin Creek Cafe or at the Marshwood snack area.
- II. Social - Enjoy all the features that a family needs; you can eat have lunch or dinner at any one of the Landings Club's six clubhouses. During the summer months, you can enjoy the cool breezes while taking in the sun at one of club's pools.
The Landings Club also offers a "weather line", that is an information hotline for their club's operations. This telephone service provides you with spoken updates from the club's employees stating weather information and how it is affecting the club's operations. Typically, the service is updated more rapidly for severe weather than ordinary temperature fluctuations. As a general rule, tennis operations are usually closed after heavy rain while golf operations remain open. The Landings Club has also developed a rigorous Inclement Weather Policy that members, guests, and employees of The Landings Club are required to follow to ensure the safety of everyone. In fact, the club has an extensive THORGuard Lightning Prediction Systems that are in operation during most times during the year.
